This painting is part of a new series of original mixed-media paintings for an upcoming exhibition, "Heart Mind Series". This exhibition is dedicated to my father who has late stage Alzheimer's. The series centers around the theme of heart-centered awareness and expansion of love. 

This exhibition runs from January 3-February 28.

"New Growth Rising"

Spring has arrived a few weeks early. I am definitely feeling the productive "wood energy" pulsing through my body. This painting was inspired by a walk through the woods last Spring when I stumbled upon a small tree that was cut down and noticed new green shoots sprouting up around the trunk. 

"Thought-Forms in Gold"

This is one of several new paintings that I've recently completed. This work is inspired by my practice of pranayama and meditation. I have always been drawn to Zen Buddhist ideas and philosophy. The idea of placing our thoughts into "thought-form" shapes and, in this image, rectangular boxes, that are morphing in and out of sight. We do not have to hold on to any of our thoughts. Instead we can acknowledge them and let them go with each inhalation and exhalation. I find meditation to always bring me back to center in a direct and clear way.
